Wheelchair and Other Manually Powered Mobility Aids

Wheelchairs and other manually powered mobility aids that meet the legal definition as “a manually-operated or power-driven device designed primarily for use by an individual with a mobility disability for the main purpose of indoor or of both indoor and outdoor locomotion" are allowed to be used anywhere foot travel is allowed in accordance with the ADA section 36.311 and 36 CFR 212.1.

Service and Other Animals


Service animals are allowed in all public spaces within the Red River Ski & Summer Area base facilities. By definition, comfort animals are not considered to be service animals. In consideration of the potential endangerment of safety to others, service and other animals are not allowed on chair lifts or snow covered trails during the winter season. During the summer season and subject to safety considerations, service and other animals are allowed on aerial lifts and on Red River Ski & Summer Area trails. Red River Ski & Summer Area will not be responsible for injury to or death of the service or other animals.

Adaptive Ski Equipment and Lessons

A person who has a disability is allowed to utilize any specialized equipment that has been designed and manufactured solely for use by individuals who have disabilities, for example; monoskis, biskis, outriggers, and sitskis. Red River Ski & Summer Area does not stock these devices, but will arrange for adaptive equipment that meets the above definition when requested 14 or more days in advance. Red River Ski & Summer Area will also provide adaptive instruction when requested 14 or more days in advance. Red River Ski & Summer Area does not offer or arrange for ski bike equipment as it does for equipment manufactured as adaptive equipment for those persons with disabilities.
