Summer Operations Continue at Red River Ski & Summer Area

Red River, NM - On Monday, June 25, 2018 the Carson National Forest announced that they will implement Stage 3 Restrictions, over most of the forest, effective Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 6:00am. This closure order prohibits all recreational activities in the districts of Camino Real, Questa, Tres Piedras, El Rito and Canjilon on the Carson National Forest. Red River Ski & Summer Area is located within the Questa Ranger District. These closures will remain in effect until the forest receives significant moisture and conditions have improved per the judgement of Carson National Forest officials.
Today Carson National Forest officials granted special exemption to Red River Ski & Summer Area to continue operating summer activities through the Stage 3 Restrictions. The special exemption authorizes continued operations of our Scenic Summer Chairlift, Hidden Treasures Aerial Park, Summer Mountain Tubing, and Pioneer Flyer. All of these activities will remain open and operational through the closure.
The only summer activities that are immediately suspended due to the Stage 3 Restrictions are hiking and disc golf. Under these restrictions access to the Carson National Forest including Red River Ski & Summer Area’s Special Use Permit is prohibited.
Our Walk with a Ranger programing will be modified to be Talk with a Ranger, offered at the Tip Restaurant Deck every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 11:00am. The Tip Restaurant will remain open serving food and beer with our scheduled Music on Top concert series happening every Saturday at 11:00am on the deck.
We maintain strict safety protocol and sustain a strong relationship with local Forest Service officials to cooperate on ensuring the guidelines set by the Stage 3 Restrictions are upheld. Our contingency operations include dedicated staffing, fencing with signage, and key placement of fire suppression devices.
